South-Facing House Vastu: Myths vs Truth

Few phrases trigger more anxiety in Indian property buyers than 'south-facing house'. Brokers discount them, families veto them, and buyers walk away from otherwise perfect homes. But here is the truth the classical Vastu texts actually teach: no direction is inherently bad. Every direction has a ruling energy, and every energy can be honoured or disturbed.

The myth: south-facing means misfortune

The fear comes from a half-understood fact — south is the direction of Yama, associated with endings. Popular retelling flattened this into 'south = death = avoid'. But the same south is also the direction of fame, courage and stability when the entrance sits in the correct pada (segment) of the southern wall.

What actually matters in a south-facing home
